The Hive is a great addition to the crime genre while carving a path for itself. What A.J. Lieberman, Mike Henderson, and Iaki Azpiazu accomplish with their debut issue is a compellingly unique experience. With the opening frame of the story well and fully delivered, Lieberman and company are going to have to work on making the rest of everything come together as well. Once all of the elements of the story are in full view, all of the gimmicks that have been hammered into the motif are going to have to work their way into actually being something and THAT is going to be a bit of a challenge what with how good its all been so far. The Hive #1 tries really hard to be a slick crime thriller with a hint of supernatural or science fiction. But, its clunky dialogue and disjointed narrative style makes it a chore to read, which makes everything else not matter. Read Full Review
Not sure what the critics read, but I did not feel the same. I thought it was one of the worst first issues from image I've ever read. It doesn't do a good job of getting you interested or invested.
