Mae, Abbie and Kvido have nearly escaped death countless times, but that won't stop them from taking on the Zemetrasi to rescue their father. When they stumble across Petra Stoneheart, an old friend of Abbie's, Mae starts to learn more about the unfamiliar world she's followed Abbie through and about the sister she's been separated from for years.
To be honest, I thought Mae was done after issue 6 and was quite disappointed. The story ended with no real resolution and much more of the world to explore. I caught up with Gene at C2E2 last April and was thrilled to discover he was moving forward with this pet project. After over two years from our first interaction, it is so satisfying to see great comics reemerge in such a competitive industry, especially when produced by such sincerely nice creators like Gene Ha. Gene Ha's world of Mae is one that is pure gold-standard excellent. Every aspect about it, from the story down to the lettering, helps to sell it. And with its success as a Kickstarter project, it will only serve to give it strength when it returns this June with a second series debuting alongside the volume one TPB at Lion Forge. Ha is as good a writer as he is an artist and blends the two crafts seamlessly. The art is beautiful to look at and it's definitely his best work. The character and creature design is strong as are the panel layouts. This book is quite excellent. There really is something for everyone here. Read Full Review
