An exciting new mini-series that ties into Mad Cave Studio's hit Speed Racer series! Before he was Racer X, Rex Racer was a rising star-until the racing world chewed him up and left him for dead. Nerd Initiative - Richard Coryell
Sep 10, 2025In this first issue of the spinoff to the Speed Racer book, we get a lot of backstory that catches us up to speed on what is going on. Mark Russell does a great job of not only giving us the backstory of Racer X but also giving us the tie into the Speed Racer series. Coming into this book we all had a feeling that Racer X was Rex Racer, but how Russell tells the tale really makes a big difference. Knowing the backstory and motivation for Racer X sets the tone for where this story will go. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Theron Couch
Sep 10, 2025A readers interest in Racer X will likely depend on their interest in Speed Racer. Though the issue is heavily expository, there is a lot to like. For Speed Racer fans, it answers many questions. Everyone else will simply find a compelling character, even if he is presented in a relatively slow issue. The art is considerably uplifting though. So while Racer X #1 isnt a must have, its worth a look if its a light week. Read Full Review

Racer X #1 ... was fine enough, but didn't really feel necessary. First off, it feels like in the Speed Racer comic that Racer X's identity is supposed to be secret ... but this book comes right out and tells you - so what's the arc? The story was fine but after everything was OVERLY explained ... I just don't feel compelled to read issue 2.
