The Hobgoblin meets with a group of businessmen that he intends to blackmail, including J. Jonah Jameson & Harry Osborn. Spider-Man intervenes but is hit with a pumpkin bomb containing a gas that nullifies his spider-sense & knocks him out. The Hobgoblin decides then to kill him. The Kingpin blocks the killing goblin blast, & the Hobgoblin decides not to challenge him & leaves. After Spidey wakes up, Kingpin tells him that the Hobgoblin is a potential threat to his interests, & he would prefer that Spidey takes him down. (Cover date: February, 1984)
