    Deadpool Annual #1 delivers just as strongly as you'd hope it would from looking at the cover … and then stumbles while trying to overdeliver. It's nice to see new voices on Deadpool (and not just the ones from his head), but it's hard to compare to a creative team that has made the character their own in recent years. Still, Duggan and Posehn's destructive romp through shattered innocence may be worth the five-spot all on its own. Read Full Review

    This issue offers an eclectic assortment of Deadpool vignettes, the meatiest of which pokes fun at the classic Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends cartoon. Your mileage may vary depending on your attachment to that show, but I certainly got a kick out of watching Deadpool join forces with Iceman and Firestar and introducing coldblooded murder to this whimsical cartoon landscape.     While I wouldn’t necessarily call this annual a must-read, there’s something goofy and fun about this admittedly disposable read. Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn, and Scott Koblish are carving out a very funny niche in the Marvel Universe with these nods to comic book history, and while not every installment is going to be created equal, the premise alone will bring plenty of readers to this book’s gruesome conclusion.
