The Marvel Universe holds a wake for Bucky Barnes. FEAR ITSELF forever altered the life of Captain America, see how!
This comic made me happy in so many ways. I didn't think I would care too much for the 'point one' issues of FEAR ITSELF. I was satisfied with the ending and we already had a bunch of 'epilogues' in the final issue. With the creative team of Ed Brubaker, Butch Guice and Bettie Breitweiser, there's no reason to pass this by. Brubaker deserves to be the one to deal with Bucky after his death and it was great to final see it dealt with. Regardless if you liked or didn't like FEAR ITSELF, fans of Captain America and Bucky absolutely must read this issue. With the end of Bucky's story and the new storyline coming up, do yourself a favor and read this before anyone can spoil any of what goes on here. There were a couple moments that should have had me shaking my head but they are far too easy to overlook due to the end results. Bravo to all involved. Read Full Review
So as it turns out, this isn't really an epilogue, but a prologue. It answers questions that maybe you didn't know you even wanted to ask. And if it turns one of the more gratuitous moments of "Fear Itself" into a success, well, it's hard to complain about that. Could it have been a scene in Fear Itself #7? Yes. But much against my expectations, I have to admit it was better to do it this way. Read Full Review
Aside from feeling like a cheap out, the comic works well and I'm actually glad to see Bucky stay around. I'm not sure reintroducing Bucky as the Winter Soldier (who every knows was him) makes any sense if he's going to work in the shadows, but I'll give Brubaker a shot (especially since it appears he's far more interested in writing Bucky stories than Rogers stories at this point). Worth a look. Read Full Review
It's not an outright successful fake-death/rebirth, but at least it wasn't milked for too long. Read Full Review
We all knew Bucky was gonna come back sooner or later so it’s a good thing that we got sooner. The art is perfect and my only complaint is how out of character Steve was when he beat up Nick.
