If dreams could come true…

The last regular issue of the Lobdell/Bachalo era, and it's a really odd one, split between a stock plot about the kids having to escape a tantalizing fantasy world and a second story drawn by Bryan Hitch progressing the rest of the ongoing plots to where the next writer will pick them up. As was the fate of X-titles in this era, all the ongoing mysteries and subplots fade away as soon as Lobdell's gone from the line — except, bizarrely, for the "Monet is twins" one, which most subsequent writers of the character have quietly ignored. Still, if the whole run doesn't quite come together, the beautiful art and thoughtful character work at least make it a rich and frequently enjoyable ride to nowhere
