    "Subterraneans 1 of 2" is the type of X-Men story that only Brian Wood can write, and I for one hope it's just one of many in a long and already storied run by the writer on X-Men. Read Full Review

    Roland Boschi makes a fine replacement for David Lopez on art duties. His linework is not as clean as Lopez's, causing some of his character's faces to vary from panel to panel, but overall his style still fits the serious tone of Wood's story. He has some great layouts where the art does not necessarily stop at the borders of each panel, allowing him to make the art flow right along with the pace of the narrative. If you're tired of Avengers vs. X-Men disrupting your X-stories with crossovers, then Wood's X-Men is the book for you. Read Full Review

    Brian Wood has done wonders with this book in a few short months, turning it from a forgettable X-Men series into one of the must read X-titles, but when the art is not as strong as the writing, the whole book suffers, and this issue greatly misses David Lopez's presence. Wood keeps the book rolling well enough and readers shouldn't let this slightly off note throw them, but it will be good for everyone involved when Lopez is back. Read Full Review
