Even though it's an X-Men story that's been told time and time before, but Guggenheim and Garcia manage to continue keeping Days of Future Past Doomsday fresh with its sophomore issue here. Read Full Review

There is some poetry to the way that Guggenheim is framing the former future history, which was not destined to be the presents present on the comics page. The issue opens with a funeral and ends with a wedding. Theres a great deal of potential in a closer look at Claremont and Byrnes Days of Future Past, but Guggenheim is rushing through events in the course of the series. I appreciate the shift towards more immediate, present-tense storytelling. And there's plenty of grim plot development. This issue moves past stage setting to actual drama, with plenty of memorable dialogue and solid art for both action scenes and quieter conversations. Bonus: I like the "origin" for Ahab, corny as it is. I know little about him and never wanted to learn more, but this is a tolerable place to start.
