This is a typical Ennis book (surprisingly even with the artist from The Boys): some cool badass Butcher-type war dog wants another war and wants things to be simple and without all the politics. Man, I wonder if Ennis even was on some war at all, because he's hyper fixed on the war theme. But either way, it reads fine. A bit boring, but it's just a set-up for the story. And it's edgy on the level just right for me. This is the kind of edginess I'm fine with.
