Aug 05, 2026Fort Psycho #1 is a strong and exciting debut that mixes military action, conspiracy, and mystery into a fast moving first issue. Matt Kindt builds an intriguing world with plenty of moral gray area, while Brian Hurtt and Bill Crabtree give the book a bold, energetic look that makes both the action and the island setting stand out. With a sharp hook and a final reveal that adds even more questions, this issue does exactly what a first issue should: it grabs attention and makes the next installment feel essential. What a pleasant surprise! Didn't really know much about this one. Read the interview in Comics! The Magazine #6 so I knew that this was some kind of riff on GI Joe (which is not really my thing), but I trusted Kindt enough to give it a shot. And I'm glad I did! I was surprised with where they took the story and I'm eager to follow the series to learn more as the mystery unravels. Slide over that whiskey - I'll take a swig and be back next month!
