With all of New York City enveloped in the zeitgeist of a missing 8-year old girl, loveable anti-hero Francis Darling accidentally stumbles onto the machinations behind her kidnapping and the drug war that ensues. But has he really? A bit like chasing the Mad Hatter through a toxic chemical cloud, Francis' strange and inconceivable journey brings us uncomfortably close to NYC's most crooked... most deviant... most irredeemable characters; the kind that can only be extricated from the drug-addled guilty conscience of a failing brain.
There is an incredible charm toDarling #1with its exceptional aesthetic and slow-burning plot. I may not know where this story will lead yet, but I do know I'm in for a doozy. Regardless, I'll more than look forward to seeing what path the series takes me down while supporting help for people struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. Read Full Review
DARLING #1 combines thoughtful, personal writing about the life of a drug addict with sketchy, disorienting art to perfectly set up a flawed protagonist. Despite the lack of plot development, there's enough meat in this issue to get readers into the right headspace for the trials to come. Read Full Review
