"Doctormania," Part 2. The ongoing adventures of the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack continue as "Doctormania" confronts the trio with a solar system wide conspiracy, an intergalactic crime family, a murderous case of acid rain, and, more importantly, the return of an unexpected old foe in a hideous new guise!
Cavan Scott did that great thing, using existing Who lore as the basis for the story but then adding his own little embellishment going forward. Next issue's wrap up should be fun. Read Full Review
This issues saving grace is its writing, which is, amazingly, quite a bit better than in the first issue. It was also pretty fascinating to see the political entanglements of the Slitheen organisms and, in classic Dr. Who fashion, we find out that the bad guys are at least more complicated than wed been led to believe. If only the quality of art matched the quality of the writing, I could give Dr. Who: The Ninth Doctor #2 an extra star; as it stands, my disappointment barely affords it a 2 out of 5.
