If you're looking for an action heavy title, it really doesn't get much better than BLOODSHOT. It has been consistently brutal, delivers occasional laughs to help lighten the tone and is slowly picking apart the pieces to a large and honestly interesting conspiracy. One of these days I might dislike an issue, but until then, Duane & company continue to keep delivering the goods and I simply cannot praise this book enough. Ultimately, Bloodshot #5 represents a rejuvenation that many fans were hoping with the Marvel and DC relaunches, with varying results. Bloodshot is a superhero story without the baggage of a complicated history, and without a forced genre overlay. It bears a simplicity that many books run away from, rather than embracing. Bloodshot and the rest of the Valiant reboot really should be a lesson to the Big Two of what truly works in a superhero comic. Read Full Review
On art, Manuel Garcia and Arturo Lozzi do a mostly solid job. They excel when it comes to the darker stuff; the violence and the blood. Knives in heads and bullets tearing through bodies look awesome. The only place they lack is in some of the character work. The two female leads can be hard to tell apart. At times, it's hard to tell who is who and which one of them has super powers. But hey, it looks like Bloodshot is going to get really stabby and shooty next issue, so that should play right to their strengths. Unless Swierczynski is teasing us again. But there is more to the defense than just fancy computer technology. They have powerful weapons and they look human. Well sort of. And they are ready to destroy Bloodshot beyond his ability to heal. We'll have to see about that, won't we? I don't have any pull in Hollywood, but I sure would love to see a Bloodshot movie. I think a new action hero would be born. Read Full Review
