Jack Boniface has become the next Shadowman, which would be great if he had any idea what he was doing. But he doesn’t and he’s out of time. Master Darque has dispatched the terrifying Mr. Twist to destroy Jack, and the demonic creature is tearing through half of the Big Easy in search of his prey. If the Abettors — the mysterious organization that’s spent hundreds of years protecting New Orleans — can reach Jack first, he’s got an outside shot at making it through the night. Find out if he’ll live to see tomorrow when the return of the legendary Shadowman continues this December!

Comic Vine - Gregg Katzman Dec 5, 2012

I don't know how they do it, but Valiant is producing some of the best books available right now. They don't have a single bad title. Maybe they made a deal with Mephisto? This book has a healthy serving of everything that makes comics awesome. It's violent, funny, crafts interesting characters, and has a plot that keeps a tight grip on your interest and refuses to let go. We're only on issue 2 here, so that means you've got plenty of time to jump on-board before you're left in the dust. Read Full Review

Shadowman appeals to a wide range of readers. If you like books like Animal Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Walking Dead, you'll find a book you'll enjoy here. It's superheroes. It's fantasy. Its horror. The thing is, none of the genres is watered down by the others. It is a perfect blend of spandex, blood and magic. I rarely give books a 5 star rating. For me that perfect score is something to aspire to. This book is as close to it as any book I have read in years. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - JohnP Dec 5, 2012

Shadowman is shaping up to be the strongest title yet in a relaunch full of home runs from Valiant. Each issue stands alone as a great chapter, but also advances a wider tale at the same time, and from the looks of things the story is only going to get darker and more intense. I highly recommend getting in now on the ground floor of Shadowman. This is going to be epic. Read Full Review

    Bloody Disgusting - BigJ Dec 7, 2012

Valiant has approached their line of books with the simple idea that great writing combined great art will make a great comic book series. Seems like a pretty simple concept, and Shadowman is a shining example that it works. If you dig “Animal Man”, “The Walking Dead”, or even” Swamp Thing”, you'll enjoy the dark embrace that “Shadowman” offers. Jordan and Zircher's “Shadowman” is another top notch title from Valiant. IGN - Benjamin Bailey Dec 5, 2012

The high point of this series is still Zircher's stunning artwork. Few comic books look as good as Shadowman, and that's because Zircher is an incredible artist and storyteller. You never get confused with the action or lost in scene. It's smooth and gorgeous. And, man, there is so much blood. So much. It's practically dripping off the page. Also, in this issue, he draws a giant demon getting fitted for a suit! That happens! Read Full Review

Having missed out on all of 90′s comics, this is my first exposure to the Valiant universe and while everything released has been awesome, I feel that Shadowman will stand head and shoulders above every other title once it gets a few more issues under it's belt. With great characters, an interesting plot, and very beautiful pages, this is quickly turning into a can't miss title! Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Dustin Cabeal Dec 5, 2012

I know that I’ve brought up the first issue a lot, but really this issue is leaps and bounds better that it shocked me. I knew it was only a matter of time before this series picked up, but I didn’t expect it to knock it out of the park on the very next issue. If you liked the first issue you’ll love this one a whole lot more. I’m very confident when I say I’ll be sticking with this series for a long while now. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Greg McElhatton Dec 5, 2012

With two issues now out on stands, "Shadowman" feels like it's another success for Valiant. When it was first announced, the Valiant revival felt like it could have easily been a false nostalgia for a defunct comic company. What we're getting instead is a series of strong revamps that take the core ideas for the titles and turn them into fun, modern comics. Jordan and Zircher have given us a winner with "Shadowman." I'm definitely sticking around for issue #3 and beyond. Read Full Review

I really like what Justin Jordan is doing with this series so far, and Zircher's art is fantastic, as usual. It's not a deep or epic comic, but it is very fun and entertaining. I found a lot of memorable dialogue as well. Valiant has a great lineup so far in their relaunch; I'd definitely recommend a pickup.
