Dive deeper into Soren's past, as Serra takes her to The Master-where perhaps she'll finally learn to contain her dark magic. Meanwhile, in the present, the world's deadliest and dysfunctional trio encounter Shriekers capable of bending reality around fear. Fortunately, Ga'Bar (who's stuck inside Deadheart's sword) is starting to really enjoy getting swung around by his new muscle mommy. Heads will roll!
While this doesn't quite hit the dizzy heights of the first issue, it's still another fiercely strong issue that has all the winning components of its fan-favourite parent series. For me, “irreverent fantasy” is a really tricky genre to crack. Pull back too much and you've basically just got plain ol' fantasy, but push the envelope too far and you run the risk of becoming out-and-out parody. Over the past few years, Michael Moreci and Vault have built one of the most interesting and captivating worlds from scratch that I can remember. From BARBARIC #1 to QUEEN OF SWORDS #1, I’ve loved every story, every character, every blood-thirsty sword. Diaz’s brilliant colors, and Jim Campbell’s lettering, the combined creative team has produced another issue that visually capturemore
