In the conclusion to "Inherit the Wind," a successor to the North Wind is chosen but the decision is far from unanimous. Meanwhile, Bufkin's rabble rousing high jinks in Oz has deadly serious consequences.
The art remains solid despite the fact that Shawn McManus steps in to provide finishes on some later pages. There's little to distinguish McManus from Mark Buckingham in most cases, which helps the book maintain a cohesive feel. However, one element that is missed is the altered coloring for the Oz segments. There's now less to distinguish the two halves of the tale visually. "Fables" #111 is good, but it's got little problems keeping it from being great. It's a less than thrilling conclusion to a story that promised more, and while I have no doubt that Willingham has some great places for these stories to go down the line, it's not there yet. So for now, we just have to judge based off of what we've got, not the potential. And for what we've got? It's a 3-star book. Not bad, but you hope for more. Read Full Review
