In part one of the two-part The Boys in the Band, we return to some Scottish roots. So why are Peter Piper, Joe Shepherd, Puss in Boots and Briar Rose all on their way to Scotland? Well, the band has to stick together, of course! When Danny Boy shows up at the Farm to tell Seamus its time to return home, the group sets off on their journey across the ocean. An evil Scottish villain is introduced, and a bloody battle ensues that may mean the loss of one of our favorite feline Fables. Plus, dont miss this issues debut of sensational new cover artist Nimit Malavia!

Fables #139is a perfectly typical issue ofFables. It capably introduces new characters, blends humor and fun into most pages, and never forgets to assert dramatic stakes worthy of the reader's attention. Although this individual issue is nothing special, it is still a well crafted comic that services the opening ofFablessecond to last story arc. Read Full Review

With nearly all of this issue being set-up there's an awful lot for next month's issue to get through. I'm also disappointed that the most interesting character of the group is the one who meets his downfall so early in the adventure. Worth a look. Read Full Review
