"Lindisfarne" part 1! An ancient center of religion and learning, and the infamous site of the first Viking raid. See it all from the perspective of a native--a young Saxon boy who dreams of the larger world, of better things, of heroes and myths and foreign gods.
With Lindisfarne being a 2 part arc, I am interested to see how much of the story we get to see next issue, and whether it will continue to focus on Edwin, or instead move to the Vikings now that they have arrived in England. Wood's decision to alternate shorter, 2 part arcs with longer ones on Northlanders seems to make for a good change of pace, and has calmed my fears that the book might end up being a "one arc pony", so to speak. The issue is a good jumping on point for new readers, but I imagine someone beginning the series with this issue will be placing a preorder for the first Northlanders trade paperback, which is due in October. This first part in a two part arc has turned out a little mediocre. Im ready to read more, but I find myself a lot less pumped for next month. This is something to which I am not accustom. Read Full Review
