Feb 23, 2009Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing is an undeniable classic of modern comics. It's a creative run that absolutely should be read by all. That said, I can't wholeheartedly recommend this hardcover as a means of doing so. $25 isn't a bad deal for a 9-issue hardcover. However, I would have gladly paid an extra $10 or $15 for a true deluxe treatment, one with oversized pages, improved coloring, bonus material, and a dust jacket that doesn't make me want to wretch. If you already have the trade paperbacks, I see little reason to upgrade. However, if you've never ventured into the swamps before, Saga of the Swamp Thing, Book 1 is a suitable starting point. I don't care how you experience this story as long as you do it one way or another. Read Full Review
