Rise of the Djinn is a striking tale that immediately immerses the reader within the emotionally gripping tragedies of a once confident woman, but as life collapses after the death of her husband and she begins to question her sanity, it is the undeniable strength of character which keeps us cheering for Tamara. With phenomenal artwork and stunning colors which keep our eyes glued to the page, the trials of this determined detective are inspiring, so much so that I could not keep my eyes dry within the first act and constantly smiling to see her overcome so much misery toward the end. Overall, Rise of The Djinn #1 is a fun issue which proves how excellent a storyteller, Kevin Grevioux , really is. The story by Grevioux is action packed. The art by artist Elmo Bondoc, colorist Jorge Cortes, and letterer Taylor Esposito is elegant. Altogether, Rise of The Djinn #1 is a story that comic book fans will enjoy if you like your crime noir with a dash of high fantasy. Read Full Review
RISE OF THE DJINN #1 is a smart, mature, interesting urban fantasy with excellent art and a surprising level of authenticity for the mythological lore. More publishers should take note of how much better a comic can be when a writer puts in the care and research to get it right. Read Full Review
There's a lot to like about this book, and when it's one day part of a collection, this may stand a little stronger. As for now, it's moving at high speeds, but the limp is noticeable. Read Full Review
