RISE OF THE DJINN #3 is an excellent end to an excellent arc from newcomer (to Zenescope) Grevioux. The action, stakes, and drama on every page are matched only by Greviouxs sincere attention to detail on making sure the legends and religions are infused with authenticity. Although Rise of the Djinn may have begun as a stirring narrative exploring the remorseful struggle of loss and the acceptance of an unwanted heritage, it quickly strays from the namesake beings which our heroine is forced to confront and instead subtly embraces the pietistic underpinnings that Tamara seeks for comfort, brazenly relegating the magical core which made this title interesting as no more than a side story and instead pushing onto the audience a closing melodrama which seems more at home as a Sunday School sermon.
