Everything about Gideon Falls was fantastic—the art was amazing, the dialog glittered, the characters were well-delineated—except for the actual story. Which had largely been seen before, but that's not a huge issue, necessarily, provided it's a good story and well told—I mean, how many variations upon classic Shakespeare plays have we seen, some of them extremely well done? How much better more

A first issue has to do so much — and this did it all perfectly, including the twist I did not see coming, despite having read hundreds of first issues. Outstanding.

Freakin' Ennis, man. He's been so good for so long that it can be easy to forget just what a truly great storyteller he is. Endings can be hard, but here Ennis absolutely nails it perfectly. Surprising yet satisfying, this story will stick with you probably longer than you'd like.
• The soul-chilling end of PUNISHER: SOVIET is here.
• Frank and Val have fought side-by-side against not only a Russian mob but also against the tide of history and these issues will make you see The Punisher (and possibly the world) differently than you do now.

On the one hand, this is the kind of story Ennis can almost write in his sleep. On the other hand, there are only maybe a half dozen writers in comics who can write better than Ennis can in his sleep.

I couldn't be enjoying this series much more. Fantastic writing and outstanding art combine to bring a terrific concept to life. Can't wait to read the next arc.
The time for investigation is over. The hunt begins, as Erica Slaughter brings her namesake to the monsters of Archer's Peak.
I am loving this series so much, although the decompression is a bit much at times.
The FBI has come to the small town of Archer's Peak, allegedly to help stop more children from being killed. But when the Sheriff's department turns their investigation to Erica Slaughter, the FBI is more interested in getting in the way. As the horrified townspeople watch Erica arm herself for a war they can't see, tensions rise to their breaking ...
Things in Archer's Peak are only growing worse. Erica Slaughter is on the hunt, but the children are still dying. Angry and afraid, the inhabitants turn their suspicions on the stranger in their midst, the woman who arrived just as the killings began. Will Erica be able to save the town, or will the very people she is trying to protect turn on her?
Children are dying in the town of Archer's Peak and the ones who survive bring back terrible stories. A strange woman named Erica Slaughter has appeared and says she fights these monsters behind the murders, but that can't possibly be true. Monsters aren't real... are they?
Textbook example of how to write a great first issue.
* GLAAD Award-winning writer James Tynion IV (Memetic, Batman: Detective Comics) teams with artist Werther Dell'Edera (Briggs Land) for an all-new limited series about staring into the abyss to find your worst fears staring back.

Somehow, every bit of this is standard Garth Ennis Punisher and yet, dammit, every bit of it is surprising and fresh. One of the greatest storytellers in the history of comics at the top of his game. And this is almost certainly the finest work Jacen Burrows has ever done—that time spent working with Alan Moore seems to have really paid off.
• Garth Ennis (Co-Creator of The Boys & Preacher) is back at Marvel and writing the Punisher again, this time with art phenom Jacen Burrows (MOON KNIGHT, 303, Crossed) at his side.
• A dozen Russian mobsters lie dead at the Punisher's feet and he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger.
• If you know Frank Castle, you know this d...

The only good thing I can say about this comic is, it ended. 3 issues of plot gibberish, jumping from one thing to another, from one character to the next. There's no depth to be found here, just things that Superman must see before he becomes Superman, all condensed o much, you can't possibly think they'd be relevant to Clark. These are one offs, as important to one's life as meeting a random permore
