I was really rooting for this one after last month's issue but the dialogue in this was appalling; none of the characters felt genuinely like people (except maybe the koala); the plot and emotional revelations were hackneyed and unearned; and it ended with a cliffhanger that about something I haven't gotten nearly invested enough in yet. All-in-all this was a poor piece of comicry on all fronts and I'd be very hard-pressed to buy the next issue.

The art is terrific, and the story has strong potential, but everything about this issue seemed dragged out so that it could end on its frustratingly vague "TBC". Not off to a terrific start.

Better than the first issue, but much of what was in this one could/should have been compressed into the last. So far "God Country" seems like rather weak writing, unfortunately ladled generously onto an interesting premise with strong potential. I'm going to give it one more issue, maybe two. If I didn't get these super cheap at work I'd have quit already.
