One World Under Doom (2025) #1

Mar 1, 2025

This was a very solid introduction into an event- as anyone who has read online reviews (not necessarily on here but other places) can tell, North has done a very good job at making Doom seem like a good guy (despite killing people and wanting total world control) to the point where even many of the audience would fall under Doom's control in an instant. Excited to see where this goes from here.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2024) #4

Was already loving this TMNT run before seeing what Jason Aaron did with Donnie- who is typically the "smart one" of the four- making him go crazy and talking to a rat that he thinks is Master Splinter (even once the rat dies later on) yet later on he still ends up being the one who talks sense into his brother (even while crediting a dead sewer rat) showing his intelligence is still there, somewhere. This is such a fascinating take on the character and is (despite being so abnormal for him) probably one of the best ways I've seen him written. I can't wait to see what he does with this character in the next runs.

The Spectacular Spider-Men (2024) #11

Mar 1, 2025

I was enjoying this run until the last couple pages of issue 8. Seeing Juliet turn invisible wasn't where I personally wanted the story to go, I would have liked if instead the writers had continued the group therapy thing until that arc pretty much died out and Peter and Miles would have a few new friends to show for it but move on to new things other than that. But, I figured I'd just look past Juliet's new powers because how much of a plot point could it possibly be? Then it just went on, and on, and on. Now she's had these powers all her life and they just suddenly came out now (I mean, I get that failed experiements/accidents/clones are overplayed as sources of powers but really?) and she's a superhero (after repeatedly saying she didn't want to be one) and it's just so boring that after struggling through issues 9 and 10, I finally had to drop the series less than halfway through this book. Maybe I'll pick it back up later (I can't decide how I feel about the Lizard situation here) but for now, this book is just as bad as all other current Spider-Man comics (except USM <3)
