I admit, I haven't read or watched every single Batman story in his near 80 year history, but to my knowledge this is one of those 'why didn't anyone think of this sooner??' stories. I'm a sucker for Dick Grayson as Batman and for Lee Weeks on Batman, so this issue already had a lot going for it, but it's the concept and King's writing that seals the deal. The quirkiness that you sometimes get from TK recedes here to tell a perfect courtroom drama that asks all the right questions about what Batman does and how we should react to it (Gordon's page on the stand? Wow!), as well as a great look at Bruce Wayne. It was also good to see Mr. Freeze in a fresh role. It looks like this arc is going to be three issues, which seems about right for what they're trying to do. If Tom King can keep up this quality for the next two installments, then we're going to have a landmark Batman story on our hands here.

Lovely art, and a story that's asking just the right questions. Judas is not a two-dimensional backstabber, but a deeply conflicted many who wrestles with the meaning of Jesus. It doesn't try to cram an edgy, skeptical position down the reader's throat, but invites the reader to look at "The Greatest Story Ever Told" from a new perspective and ask their own questions. Really looking forward to seeing how this story unfolds.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first issue. Still visually stunning, but the story didn't work as well as in #1, in my opinion. The first issue seemed like a perversely plausible alternative narration of the classic Judas story and his experience. This issue didn't feel as compatible with the classic story, and that took away from the fascination of #1 for me. I am really interested to see what they do with the next issue, though, after the way this one ended. So we'll see. Oh, and the book is "Revelation," not "Revelations." Comic editors don't know this; for decades they've not known this. -sigh-

Honestly, this is the first issue of Mister Miracle I've read that left me thinking, 'yeah, I get it'. The big themes of family, belief, and zany super-hero/sci-fi action/fun shine through. There's a couple pages of just fantastic use of the 9-panel grid. A couple of huge reveals make this perhaps the most significant issue of the series so far. I'm more excited about the second half of the series now than I expected to be going in. Hats off to King and Gerads!

Dani Moonstar is my favorite comic book character. (And Magik is up there.) I love Dani's Valkyrie arc, and Asgardian Wars is one of my all-time favorite stories - so dropping these characters into this sort of story should be my kind of thing. I wanted to love this issue... but I didn't. A few panels of them mourning their fallen comrades from the Hellfire Gala probably would have made a big difference for me, like Berto's reaction to Sam's death in X-Men Red or Emma's grief in Iron Man. I feel like there was a lot of wasted potential for powerful, character-focused story-telling here. Maybe we'll see some of that in the issues ahead. But this is certainly the weakest chapter of Fall of X that I've read so far. I did enjoy Dust, and Curse is a lot of fun. This book is fine! I was just hoping for more than that. I'm staying with it, though (did I mention that I love Dani and Magik?), so we'll see what the next few issues bring.

I'm currently reading two series from Marvel, three from DC, and one from Boom - including two books written by two of my all-time favorite writers. I realized today, to my surprise, that I think Thanos is the best title I'm reading. It's entertaining, but more than that it's interesting. I'm not sure I've ever read a story with Thanos in it before (I know, I know), but the Infinity War trailer got me excited, I heard good things about Cates and Shaw, so here I am, and I'm loving it. It reminds me of the King Thor stuff from The God Butcher, the way it plays with the wider Marvel mythology, What If? style. The reveals are fun, the character dynamics are fun - it's just an overall fun book. Check it out.

I had actually just decided to give up on this title, because the war of realms has just been dragging on for too long, and there was less story of late, just a bunch of punching, but I wanted to give it one more shot, for Jane's sake. I'm glad I did. The Mighty Thor #702 is my favorite issue in over a year. I feel like the story just moved out of neutral and into gear, and we're going somewhere. Hopefully Jason and the team keep this up for the rest of "The Death of the Mighty Thor"!

I enjoyed this issue. BUT For me the Dr. Strange/Falcon moments didn't fit and detracted from the story and the momentum. Also, the cover led me to expect a little more narrative progression than what we got, which was disappointing - I closed the book and felt like they'd accidentally used the cover for #704 on this issue.
