Star Wars: Mace Windu #1 |
Dec 7, 2017 |
This Comic had alot of promise, Mace was always that badass character that just needed, well more character. His own comic issue was perfect, and set in my favorite era the Clone Wars, this had the makings of a great series. Nevertheless i’m very disappointed. Mace is portrayed rather poorly, its clear the writers don’t know much about Star Wars because seeing Windu stand before the Jedi council rather than sit along side them as equals was vert offputting considering he is one of the leading members. The whole dynamic of the Jedi being peacekeepers rather than generals has been explored in great detail already, so them trying to implement that concept as a theme is far from new, and comes off as redundant. The artwork is servicable enough, except for an absolutely offensive shot of Yoda, and the story itself is nothing special. While the plot is by the books, the best thing this comic has going for it is probably the dynamic between the group of Jedi that are sent on this mission. We all know Kit Fisto, but the newcomers are likeable enough, and show some potential to develop rather well as the series goes on, especially in the case of the blind Jedi who’s name I haven’t remembered yet. The battle droid humor is more cringy than normal, so hopefully the villian introduced at the end isn’t a compete flop but despite the many jarring flaws, Issue 1 is passable enough to make me want to keep reading. |
