Utterly original and exciting. A lovely dose of Hard SF.

Gonzo, audacious brilliance! The smartest, cleverest, funniest, wholly original, hard SF Avengers title in years and years. Big love for this little masterpiece of super-herodom. Accessible. You don't need to be an Avengers fanatic to enjoy this book. Bright, bold and colorful and full of hope, friendship and adventure. Lovely, very lovely, quirky artwork. Something like the genius artwork of the late Seth (Green Lantern: Willworld) Fisher. This ones up there with the best super-hero comics of the last few years, Morrison and Quietly's ALL STAR SUPERMAN, Darwyn Cooke's THE NEW FRONTIER or Heinberg and Cheung's YOUNG AVENGERS & CHILDREN'S CRUSADE. This 12-issue series should appeal to almost anyone interested in graphic novels.

Tom Taylor's EARTH 2 VOL 5: THE KRYPTONIAN finally wrapped up the initial storyline that kicked off the series with great success and much satisfaction. Ending up being a terrific set up for the new Justice Society team of the New 52. This new weekly title spins out of that ending. This volume collects the first eleven issues of the weekly. DC's had a long history of doing weekly books. Been trying it since the 80s with very limited success, at least creatively. This time around DC's recruited Big Name science fiction author Daniel H. Wilson of Robopocalypse fame. And he's brought a bag of snappy ideas with him. I've been a fan of the JSA and Earth 2 since the 60's and 70's when that's where they were originally from, so I loved that the NEW 52 returned them there finally. CRISIS created problems for the JSA that never seemed quite right. Yes, they had some good runs like the Johns run recently but the current team with this new Batman and the new black Superman is stronger and more interesting than ever before. I love that Alan Scot is the gay Green Lantern. Miracle Man is now on the team. And Barda. Fury. Dr. Fate. Flash. Kara and Helena are back from Earth 1! So much to love about this book! And the art is amazingly good for a weekly book. I just hope it keeps up like this. Love, love love this book.
