"Blackbird" part one! There's something strange afoot in Gotham City - someone's making promises to the world's deadliest killers, offering them things well beyond the powers of a mortal human to provide! Unfortunately, Nightwing's been caught in the crossfire and is badly hurt... good thing he's not the exact person whose presence is most likely to make things weird between Batgirl and Huntress, right?

DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Mar 8, 2017

Two issues in a row, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey has successfully channeled the best of classic Birds of Prey while maintaining a focus on character and not seeming derivative. This type of execution will quickly elevate this title to the upper echelon of DC's publications. Read Full Review

Being such a big Detective Comics fan, it is really good to see another team up book that isn't just about the main character. Each of the characters here has been fleshed out in their own titles over time. To Benson's credit they don't appear to be reinventing the wheel on this book, just taking it for a spin. Even with Nightwing in the mix the story never feels muddled, it comes off as a Gotham Justice League of sorts. Everyone has their place in this book. Read Full Review

Bounding Into Comics - John F. Trent Mar 8, 2017

Batgirl And The Birds of Prey #8 is definitely a fun, entertaining entry with plenty of things going on. It is your quintessential comic book with an epic fight scene, the introduction of a menacing and truly superior foe, and the positive team bonding and group interaction as the team plans out their next moves. The dialogue for the most part is very good; however, it does struggle when the team begins to discuss Oracle only to be brushed aside a number of times. Stylistically this art isn't my favorite, but it does a good job of conveying emotions and the action scenes in the beginning were just great! Read Full Review

Overall, I really enjoyed this comic! I never read anyBirds of Prey comics before, but now I'm itching for the next issue. While yes, the dialogue could be improved slightly, the humorous banter between the three leads definitely makes up for it. In an age where DC is dominated by heavyweights like Superman and Batman, it's great to know DC hasn't forgotten about these characters. I cannot wait to see where the Benson sisters will take the Birds of Prey next and their inevitable showdown with Blackbird. Read Full Review

While things still seem a bit clunky in the storytelling of this series, I do have to say that I am interested to see how the guest star of this arc plays with our Birds team and that I really enjoyed the art in this issue.   Read Full Review

This is easily the best chapter of Batgirl & the Birds of Prey since the books Rebirth issue. Unfortunately, despite vast improvements in characterization, villains, and action, Babs & the BoP is still barely above average. Yes, there are worse books out there, but that doesn't mean we should settle for mediocrity " especially when this title could be outstanding. On a positive note, for two issues now, we've seen a positive trend in quality! Let's hope it continues! (They could start by killing Gus" Just saying") Read Full Review
