Action Comics (2011) #17
Feb 22, 2013 |
However, the back-up feature by Sholly Fisch is the best part of the issue, as it has been with every previous installment of the series. Fisch's story is set on Clark's prom night and features a very real feeling interaction between Clark Kent and his father. There's a really nice twist to it that you'll have to see for yourself, one that can excite you for the next issue. It's beyond me why Fisch won't be graduating to the main writer of the book come Morrison's departure, as he has an amazing handle on Superman and humanizes him in a great way. His characterization is young and brash with a sense of trepidation but without making Superman seem immensely immature. Fisch's character work with the series has a lot of heart to it, and I think I'll be more sad to see him go than Morrison. |

Wolverine and the X-Men #26
Mar 13, 2013 |
Overall, Wolverine and the X-Men #26was a disappointing entry in the series. One of the highlights from Aaron's run has been the interaction between Wolverine's staff and the kids at the school, and this book has none of that whatsoever, making it seem like just an average Wolverine story. |

Sex #1

Sex is certainly a book I want to find out more about, but to those who aren't familiar of Joe Casey might not be too enthralled with the issue. Here's hoping things pick up a bit next month with #2. |

Guardians of the Galaxy (2013) #0.1
Mar 2, 2013 |
However, despite the excellent quality of the book, I did have one tiny issue with it. There's a sequence right before the flashback in this issue ends, but it's a sequence we've seen before. Part of this issue was published inMarvel Now! Point One#1 way back in October. While that scene is expanded on a little, it might seem a bit like a cop-out to charge twice for the same material even if there is more to it this time around. Regardless,Guardians of the Galaxy#0.1 is an extremely polished book and well worth your time and money. |

On the surface, Happy is merely an average read, but when you look closer it's an extremely well executed parody that's well worth your time. |

Glory #33
Mar 8, 2013 |
Glory has been a great ride, and while I'd love to see a hundred more issues of this kind of work, it's good to see things headed towards a natural end that doesn't feel forced. Glory will undoubtedly go down as one of the great runs in comic book history, but we still have one more month to go, and I, for one, can't wait. |

Bedlam #5

Spencer and Rossmo are a perfect pair, Spencer can really get inside your head with his words, and that opens up the door for Rossmo to leave that lasting image in you. There's a lot of screwed up things that happen in this book without it being overtly exploitative or excessive. If you're looking for a smart thriller, you owe it to yourself to give this book a shot. I usually find it hard for comics to be suspenseful, but Bedlam seems to do it pretty damn well. |
