The story is a long way from winding down and some of the fans of the older series might not like Lono's recent bout of mercy and sanity. All I can say is, give it a chance and work with it. Lono might have sobered up something fierce, but the beast within him is alive and well. And this story still has a few twists and turns to show before it rounds up.

I wish they would just tell me already. Find it, read it" and despair on the unknown.

This particular arc, though promising in the fringe elements it has added to the story, is still relatively disappointing. Mostly because it acts as a filler. The main storyline is essentially Abe's passage and how things change around him in his wake. Almost seems like an exercise in highlighting the fact that Abe is indeed one of the chief points on which this worlds' story stands. Kinda redundant at this point. Still, as a comic it is right on the mark. With quality art and writing on every page and panel.

So yeah this one is "meh" all the way to core. Superhero violence has been done too well by way too many class acts (The Boys, Authority) for this one to make any serious impact. Pass on it.

The writing is very well done, the art too is quite good. The problem lies in the details, because there aren't too many details. You cannot hope to spin a spell of monsters and magic and mayhem and riddles if you stop paying attention to the details. It wont stick. And that is exactly what happens here. The spell shimmers and weaves itself around you and then simply falls apart. Because there are not enough details. This issue scores slightly above the others thanks to its not so subtle Lovecraftian references, but all in all it still lacks those vital details.

Nice setup, good world, good art.

Skinner Sweet is back. The monster from the old wild west returns to doing what he does best. Hunting down the old breed of vampires. And this time he is doing it for Uncle Sam. Partnering up with his old crush/protege Pearl Jones.

The first issue reveals very little as expected, but certainly continues to impress with regards to the writing and the artwork. Like I said, American Vampire fans are in for a treat. Not much in the way of action, but I am sure the comings issues will more than make up for that. They always do.

Its a nice comic book and stands well with the American Vampire franchise. But it easily pales in front of the early American Vampire issues, in which Sweet's ballad of vengeance was being sung for our pleasure. Its good, but far from legendary.

One point less for the newish art style.

A wonderful throwback to the old spooky Hellboy storylines, this comic works wonderfully. The artwork is just plain awesome, and the writing as always top notch. If you are looking for a goodmystery/horror short story look no further than this. (And then read everything else of BPRD). My only gripe with the story was I wish it were longer. Not in the fanboy sense longer, but longer so that there were more details revealed. Come on BPRD, stop playing things so close to the chest.

Man I am loving BPRD right now. The world of Hellboy is going through an apocalypse. It is a long awaited and a long hinted at apocalypse. And no body could have shown it better.

No disappointments, only awesomeness.

The story itself is a throwback to the older Hellboy, the spookier Lovecraft-inspired Hellboy of days gone by, with haunted mansions, cults and necromancers in plenty. The narrative flows smoothly and with practised ease and the artwork is of course top-notch, as one would expect in a BPRD book. It leaves you with a sense of haunting. Something missing from most of the comics out there that like to stake claim to the horror genre. A nice, short, eerie comic book. My only gripe with it: it could have been a little longer. Twenty-five pages flew by too fast. A recommended read for everyone.

Find it, read it. You will not regret it.

The two pages of the Crimson Corsair bonus comic caught the imagination as well. So all in all I would rate this a pretty satisfying comic book.

Matt Price, agent of the Secret Service gets into his game for your entertainment and mine. He is no hero, but he is no chump either. And if you want to really piss him off, call him Brain Boy. Love it.

If this story has to graduate from just another comic book looking to cash in on some silver age nostalgia to an actual franchise capable of turning Captain Midnight into a household name, then it needs more, much more.

Cleverly written character's like Agent Jones makes this comic a worthwhile read. Check it out if you have not done so already.

Also the barbarian could do with less bragging about himself.

After eleven issues I have to admit I am rather enjoying this turn of events. A plague has struck down Conan's comrades and hope looks bleak for them. This concern weighs heavy on the Cimmerian's brow. As is visible in the ponderous art and the gloomy writing. Like I said this might not be the Conan I know or a lot of Robert E Howard fans know. But after so many issues one thing is certain. This is indeed Conan. Perhaps a younger stupider Conan. But Conan all the same.

I would say check it out if you have time to kill. But it lacks presence.

There is an obligatory climax to the book. Which I honestly did not like so much. Its cool and all, just nothing earth shattering. The artwork however is full aces. Damn slick work, the action shots and the facial expressions are all spot on. It ain't easy getting them both right in one book and Viktor Santos manages the trick. All in all it is an explosive first issue worthy of being read by a Comic Addict. I can already see this one is gonna end in a lot of violence.

This sense of dread prevails over the entire comic. This delightful mixture of gloom and dark humor is something Ennis is a master at, and he plays it well here. The artwork is very good. Lending a gritty feel to the whole thing. Which is exactly what your eyes are looking for in a war comic book. Another recommended read.

Its one of those series that you can tell is far-out, and you are not sure if its worth the time yet, 'cause far-out is dangerous turf for any storyteller. Whether this one can meet the expectations it sets for itself, only time will tell.

The climax of this series is as expected, disappointing. Ending on a cheerfully happy note that goes against the entire theme of the comic book. One does not necessarily need a tragedy to make a story great but I feel that in this instance, tragedy would have served the story much better than the watered down happy ending we get. It is truly unfortunate that such a bold experiment in art and music and comic books could not bear better fruit. Like the music that accompanies it, House of Gold and Bones is sadly a very mediocre comic book. Despite its aspirations to the contrary.

If I were a gambling man on a racetrack, then this here would be what they call a sure thing. Issue one leaves me desperately wanting for more. For all you comic addicts out there here is some sage advice: Do not miss this one.

However it is still too early in this comic book to hold this against the series. All in all it certainly looks promising. Also because they have not yet revealed too much in the first issue they have the advantage of pace on their side. This series could blossom into a cult saga of epic adventure or could peter out into the oblivion that is the comic books graveyard. It is still too early to tell.

Read it if you like Mars Attacks, or Transformers, or both. Else pass.

The artwork is pretty decent, nothing jaw dropping but nothing to complain about either and the story is tightly wound with plenty of action. If you are a Mass Effect fan, this one is a must for you. For the rest of you who like Sci-Fi…I don't think you will mind taking a peek into these pages either.

The artwork is pretty wicked on this one. Jorge Coehlo really brings things out in an original way. While Max Bemis's writing although a little pretentious is still praiseworthy. Mostly 'cause I have a feeling it's deliberately pretentious. There are dozens of other tricks and goodies hidden in this comic book. I'm sure of it. Contrary to what one might assume this particular comic has been very carefully designed. As a first issue I can say the series has some mind-blowing potential trapped inside. A grab-worthy read.

All in all a good read on a Sunday morning.

The art is pretty average. Nothing to gush over and the fan service is minimal. Which was kinda disappointing on a personal level. But I can't hold that against them. All in all, the comic was much better than I thought it would be.

Issue one wraps things up at a good point. The plot is not unraveled completely and things are set to explode. A good introduction to what looks like a superb series. If you like motorcycles and gangs on motorcycles or Sons of Anarchy then this is the series for you.

Trekkies can not miss this one for the world. Everyone else… well depends how much you like Star Trek.

The artwork is surprisingly good. Better than it has been in a while, although not very consistent. You still see the odd panel drawn with less detail. But not too much. The space battles and locales remind me of the old Tales of the Jedi series, one of Dark Horse's earliest Star Wars story arcs and a brilliant series. So find this baby and read it up. You get another adventure with Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and the rest and this one might be better than the last one you read. This could be another Legacy. Or another KotOR. And I will be eagerly waiting to find out.

Star Wars buffs go right ahead"I dont know how well it will sit with anybody else though.

Star Wars fans, you need to read this as bad as you need a chilled glass of malted vanilla shake. As for the rest of you, Trekkies and the lot, this is still a good comic book to pick up.

I believe this comic has a lot of potential. And the coming issues might raise it to the level of some Dark Horse classics. But the artwork has to get better for that to happen.

I end the comic book and realize that my sole reaction to the story is *bleh!*. One big pile of *bleh!*. Which is kinda disappointing. Dark Horse has done loads of Star Wars work much better written than this one. Go read that. But if you are a hopeless Star Wars nerd like yours truly then sure, pick up a copy of the Purge. If only to check out the cool artwork.

Perhaps I would have liked it better had they revealed the plot a lot less and explained the world a lot more. But that's just me.

This sort of too clever writing always rubs me the wrong way, however the ending is pretty good and once again the journey of our hero ends at an exciting point. Overall, the plot looks good right now. So I dont have any serious complaints. But the issues are winding down and so far this series has shied away from being deserving of cult status by a hair's breadth.

These are some of the questions asked and answered in The Black Bat #1. Dynamite makes a worthy effort into superhero mythos with this character. Because I am sure every comic book aficionado has asked themselves at some point or other"what if Batman's gloves were off? What if he wasn't such a giant pansy? And Dynamite strives to answer that question with authority. The Black Bat kills without hesitation. He carries guns. He uses any advantage he gets, because he is no hero. He is a vigilante. Plus, he has his full set of villains, allowing for creative expansion into a full fledged rogues gallery. The writing is pretty good, somber as the mood dictates things with a tight narrative that is quite subtle at times. Ronan Cliquet, Mat Lopes and Rob Steen create the art and the world of The Black Bat and they do a pretty good job. It is a believable world and the story is just real enough to draw you into itself. Recommended reading this week.

I'm definitely caught up in the story now, hopefully the next issue will shed more light on the darkness.

As a first issue, The Fuse serves well to introduce the reader to the series. Recommended reading for all who enjoy scifi/mystery stories. However, will the series itself work or not is a question only time can answer. Time and the last page of the last issue in the series.

The story works well. It is cleverly written and reveals almost nothing in this first issue. Which is not a big deal, however I would have liked it had they shown more of the submarine. The comic has a laid back European aesthetic to it, something that I miss in American comics. I am certain Kel Symons has read some Corto Maltese back in the day. The atmosphere of the comic is similar, though it is not completely there yet. As things stand, I know I will be eagerly waiting for future issues. If you can accept the digital shades in the artwork then I am certain you will be too.

The story itself while simplistic and perhaps a little thin on plot, does have its fair share of twists and turns. Where do the Lizard Men hail from? What is their hidden agenda for all humanity? Not all has been unravelled yet, there are still mysteries that a comic addict can look forward to in the coming issues. So I am definitely putting The Saviors on my recommended reading list. I suggest you do the same.

Maybe I am being too critical of what could be a promising series, but until I get my hands on more issues… I recommend you pass on this one.

From myths and legends to Mermen straight out of a horror story to creation stories dealing with our own evolution, The Wake has something for everyone, and everyone should definitely read it.

Kieron Gillen brings to us the other side of the coin. The flip side of the Spartan society is brought to us in an epic every bit as engrossing as 300 was. It is only issue #1 and I can safely say I am in love with this comic book already. The dialogues are tight, and hit the right spots. The narration is tense, fitting the story like a glove. The artwork is excellent. The inking and the colouring complimenting each other in unique perfection. Three is the number of creators this book has, Kieron Gillen, Ryan Kelly and Jordie Bellaire. An important number for this comic book, considering the title. Three is a pattern Im hoping to see many times over before this ride is done. I have many aspirations for this series and even if it does not live up to any of them. This first issue would still have been every bit worth the read. The spartan lover will love it as much as the history buff. Fans of 300 and haters alike, this comic is for you.

As a standalone comic it is a really cool read. Well worth the money if you can afford it. The art style is realistic and focuses on character expressions, which does not mean that attention to background is spared. The details are all fleshed out proper and the whole style goes well with the narration. Some might find the writing a little underwhelming but that takes nothing away from the pace. And only adds to the atmosphere of dread.

My only complaint, which is not really much of a complaint, is that I understand very little of what is going on under the narrative. It is a tightly concealed plot which will take it's time to unravel. Find it, Read it.

Highly recommended series for all comic book fans.

Exciting stuff really. Keeps you at your toes. Keeps you turning those pages. I like the characters, I like the clever narration. The writing is top notch. The artwork is top notch. The comic feels like something from the Silver Age but the story is updated. John Byrne has done an awesome job with the project. As far as Im concerned everyone ought to read this comic book. And if you haven't read the one that came before, then find it and read it too.

If you are a Valiant fan, this one is a must. For newcomers it might feel a little half baked.

Not everything has to be recast in a broken and gritty mirror for it to be good! This is something especially true for a series like Voltron that created magical levels of awesomeness simply by getting giant robots to fight. There was a way this could have been done. The five pilots of the lions could have been intrepid explorers. The Space Corps could have been a a group of trailblazers who bring light to the dark corners of the Galaxy. But alas this is the wannabe Frank Miller version of the Voltron saga. And I for one will give it a pass.
