24: Underground #1

Nov 16, 2014

Fans of the show will love24: Underground and that's exactly who they're going after. While I enjoyed this book, I won't be watching the show or clamoring for any more24 comic titles. This is an enjoyable enough as its own thing, but if you've watched the show then you'll probably like this more than I did.

Altered States: Red Sonja #1

Mar 10, 2015

Overall,Altered States: Red Sonja is a fun story with some great art. It's possible I would have enjoyed it more if I was more familiar with Red Sonja. I'm told that reading the current Gail Simone book would totally be worth my time.

Angry Birds / Transformers #1

Nov 26, 2014

Angry Birds Transformers isn't my cup of tea. Or my bag. Jam. Thing"any of the above, really. It's a perfectly decent kids comic that does exactly what it set out to do: make a fun, lighthearted story, mashing up two totally different comic properties. I won't be picking up the next book, butAngry Birds readers will be knocking down the doors for issue two.

Cinderella: Age of Darkness #1

Oct 29, 2014

By the end of this book, Iwas intrigued. I wish I knew moreabout this world and what's been going down, but this is still a fun book. If you're already reading otherGrimm Fairy Tales, then you don't have a reason to not pick this up. If you're looking for a new series, and you've always wanted to try a bookset in this universe, then this is a good one to jump onto.

Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues #1

Jan 21, 2015

Overall,Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues is a fun first issue into what could be a great sequel to the film. Having the characters resemble the original actors would have helped this book immensely. Besides that, I'm excited to see what the next issue will bring.

Goddess Inc. #1

Aug 7, 2014

At the end of the day, this book really sits at the level of decent. I didn't like it all that much but I also didn't hate it. There is some real story potential here. If scheming gods and drawings of sexy women are your thing, then pick up this book.

Godzilla: Cataclysm #1

Aug 17, 2014

There have been Godzilla comics for quite a few years now and I have, until now, picked one up. Often times, I'm leery of picking up licensed books because I find that the characterizations aren't always 'there' for me. Godzilla: Cataclysm may just change my mind. The strong writing and fantastic art really sold me on this book. If I had one complaint, it would be that we didn't get to spend much time getting to know this new and unfamiliar world, but with future issues, that very well could do that. If you're a lifelong fan, or a rather new one, I urge you to give this book a try.

Grimm Fairy Tales: Halloween Special #2014

Oct 2, 2014

Am I the only onewho was a little disappointed in this book based on the covers alone? Four of the five covers are total cheesecake. Scantily-clad girls and monsters. All I saw in the book were monsters. If the Grimm Universe is your thing, then you'll dig the2014 Halloween Special.

Lara Croft And The Frozen Omen #1

Oct 1, 2015

Overall, it's nice to see the continuing adventures of Lara Croft. I don't think it holds up to playing the game, but that's a translation that often gets lost when converting any title from a different medium into a comic book. If you love you some Lara Croft, then be sure to grab this issue. For others wanting to try it, this is a good issue to start with, as you don't really need to know any of the backstory outside of who Lara Croft is and what she does.

Legenderry: Green Hornet #1

Feb 18, 2015

Overall, I can see how this book will hit all of the right notes for the steampunk crowd. If that's your gig, then you'll like this book. If you're already following any of the otherLegenderry titles, then consider picking this one up. For me, it was an okay book. Not much bad to say about it but it's not making me want to ready anything else in the series.

Mars Attacks: First Born #1

Nov 12, 2014

I would love to see these guys tackle another story set in theMars Attacks universe. They already tricked me into a fun, sad, and poignant story filled with Martians. If you're aMars Attackskind ofperson, then I'm sure you're already planning to pick upFirst Born. If you haven't read anyMars Attacks titles yet, don't worry. You don't have to have any prior knowledge of the property. I think you'll dig it; I did.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (2016) #0

Jan 13, 2016

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I'm interested enough to check out the first issue. And it doesn't hurt that there's a great team working onMighty Morphin Power Rangers. But if you're an old fan, a newish fan, or just a fan in general, you will want to pick up this book.

Millennium #1

Jan 25, 2015

The art is dark, which makes sense considering the story and all. I like the fact that the characters actually look like their real life counterparts. That makes it a lot easier on my brain meats. If you're already a fan, you should pick up this book. If you have no clue what the hell I'm talking about, grab the book anyways and then go home and find a way to watch all 3 seasons of the show. After a week long binge you'll come back and be all like, “Jarrod. You're like a god, of awesomeness.” And you'll be right.

October Faction #1

Oct 9, 2014

OverallThe October Faction is a fun, interesting read but doesn't have enough pull to make me rush out and get the second issue. Most likely, I'm going to wait for the collection to come out before I continue reading the series.

Rot & Ruin starts off a little rough but really begins to build.I can only assume that, if you're a fan of the books, you'll love this. I'm partially interested in continuing this seriesnowbut moreso after I catch up on the previous books.

Solitary #1

The idea of an immortal man stuck on death row has pulled me in. I can't wait to read more of these issues. So, let's help fund this thing. I'mdefinitely going to chip in a few bucks myself.

Sunstone (2014) #1

Dec 23, 2014

Overall,Sunstone is a fun, well-written story of early love accompanied by great art. I think I would have liked it more if it was a subject that I understood better or at least half-way cared about but, again, BDSM is not my thing. Just like kicking puppies isn't my thing either.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles / Ghostbusters #1

Oct 22, 2014

I can't wait for the next issue to drop. In fact, I want the whole thing. Right now. But since I'm not in charge (anymore) I'll just have to wait a month. If you like/love either the Turtles or the ‘Busters, you'll dig this book. You don't have to have read any back story to enjoy this, but if you're caught up you'll love how this works it's way into the main stories.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutanimals #1

Feb 28, 2015

Overall, IDW knocks another book out of the park and delivers us a new take on the Mutanimals. As with most of the Turtles books, you really don't want to miss this as everything seems to build on each other in this universe. Go buy it. Read it. And give me some comments.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time #1

Dec 9, 2014

If you couldn't tell, I really dug this miniseries. I wish it was more than four issues. Six would have been fun. Great writing, a fun story, and some killer art really make for a great series. I think I say this every time I review IDW's series, but if you're not reading it you're missing out. Get off your butt and buy an issue. Or two. Well, better make it three.

The Fly: Outbreak #1

Mar 28, 2015

I'm looking forward to the second issue. The potential idea of this ‘fly' virus having an outbreak is crazy! There could be lots of human-fly dudes and dudettes buzzing around town. I'm glad it's fictional, as in not real. It's not real. Right?

The Little Mermaid #1

Feb 21, 2015

Overall, this was a well-written issue with art that fits into the mold of the Grimm Fairy Tales universe. If you're already a fan of these books then you'll swim a mermaid flip with this new title. If you're new to this world, you might take a few pages to figure out what is going on, but it's worth the attempt.

This Damned Band #1

Aug 3, 2015

This may not have been a book I would have grabbed off the shelf, but I'm glad I read it. I'm rather angered that this is only the first issue. I want to read the whole story now. I don't want to wait. Waiting is for fools.

Unit 44 #1

Mar 26, 2015

Overall, this book has a fun premise, even if it is a bit of a stretch. There is some humor to be found. The art, on the other hand, really detracted me from the book. Why is Agent Gibson's hair like three feet tall? I'll finish this series; I'm not in any hurry, but I'd like to know how it ends.
