I wanted to be excited for a new Power Rangers comic book, but kept my expectations in check. That I loved a franchise in my younger days does not mean a reboots creators understand how to grow a series alongside me. Yet clearly Higgins does, who in a single debut issue dispelled any and all doubts Id harbored. Alongside Presetya and Bayliss hes created what has immediately become one of my most anticipated new series of the year. Go Go Power Rangers! Read Full Review
Long time fans of the franchise, as well as anyone that hada pulse in 1994, is certain to adore Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #0.However, the truly impressive feat is that these creators have managed to turn the Mighty Morphin' era of the Power Rangersfranchise into something that can appreciated and adored by the completely uninitiated. This zero-issue may not be perfect, but neither was the television show. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #0is the perfect gateway into this beloved universe. Read Full Review
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 doesn't break the wheel as it tries to reinvent it. It's a contemporary take without being considered "dark" or "gritty" like that fan film last year. Higgins and Prasetya take into consideration what fans appreciate about the series and leaves the cheese behind, but still hang on to what Ranger fans know and love about these teens with attitude. All in all, this issue is surprisingly impressive. Across the three stories presented here, the creators have taken all the best aspects of Power Rangers and injected them with a sense of fun, of life and brought them into the 21st Century in a way that shows haven't been able to do in years. To round it off, this is a series I've been waiting for without knowing it–for years. It gives me a mature, complex version of a universe I fell in love with as a child and updates it. This is for new fans and old fans alike, and I think it'll be a great series if the quality here continues. I will definitely continue to read this series for as long as it runs. Read Full Review
Alright. So I clearly have a lot of nostalgia for the Power Rangers. But was it good? I think so. This isn't a groundbreaking comic, but it certainly is fun on every page. It will hit all the right notes for fans of the series and might make you want to fire up the episodes for a rewatch. Sometimes, revisiting the past can make you grimace as you try to remember why you liked the thing you did, butMighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 does none of that. This is a solid book. Gorgeous art, killer fight scenes…it all comes rushing back in the best way. Read Full Review
If Mighty Morphin Power Rangers shows us nothing else, it's that there's room for superhero stories that aren't bogged down with being too dark or gritty. At its heart, the story of the Power Rangers"in both the television series and in this comic book"is one of teamwork and hope. With Higgins framing the series' starting point with Tommy looking to earn redemption and acceptance from when he was under Rita's thrall, those themes become all too important. Higgins sets the series up nicely to start in March in the final pages of this zero issue, revealing a monster that's rumored to be the main villain of the reboot film. If this first issue is any indication, the rest of the series will do the source material justice. Read Full Review
With a mixture of action scenes that lovingly invoke the spirit of the classic series and a character-focused approach to storytelling, if this issue doesn't having you humming the theme song by the end, then it is clear that you have no soul. Read Full Review
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 did exactly what a zero issue should, introduce us to the product in an engaging manner, whilst leaving a smooth jumping on point come #1. The creative team also give us some exciting events, with the back-up stories also giving plenty that will appeal to fans. Read Full Review
I really liked this look at what we can expect from Kyle Higgins' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The story is a clever little update that is subtle in it's changes because it is obvious how much Higgins knows and enjoys the source material. While I am not a Power Rangers scholar, I did notice enough to say that this book isn't exactly new user friendly. Sure, if you are looking for a fun teenaged superhero book, you can do a whole lot worse, but this is obviously set up for fans of the franchise first and foremost. Read Full Review
While the sheer number of stories makes this an issue better suited to its Zero issue status than a full debut, each one has something charming, different, and honest to say about the Power Rangers brand. With more space in future installments, the few significant flaws, such as tepid characterization and rushed fights, seem destined to give way to a series uniquely able to answer the range and passion that MMPR has inspired over the years. Overall, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #0 is a fantastic tribute to the series that ignited a phenomenon, able to honor what came before while updating it for the modern day. It brings the drama and scale that captured countless childhood imaginations back for an unironic reminder of exactly why that was that will excite a fan of the series, regardless of age. “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” #0 is a very solid prelude to the series that gets it's #1 issue released in March. This will tie people over until then. For fans of the original series, this is going to be a joy to read. It really captures the essence of the series while updating things to 2016. It continues the standard of good licensed comics that series like “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “The X-Files” have set. Read Full Review

Most adult fans of the original series will like this more for nostalgia and for the chance to expand on their childhood. The downside is that newer Power Rangers fans probably won't like it as much. Me, I'm absolutely loving what I'm seeing so far. Read Full Review
There are three stories here: the main story, a back up story featuring the not so dynamic duo of Bulk and Skull, and the short story featured in the San Diego Comic Con book. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers appear in good hands with Higgins and Prasetya on board. Their #0 issue finds a good balance between old school nostalgia and a more modernized take, with a solid new mystery developing alongside a familiar story. The issue's limited page count doesn't allow for a full exportation of what's to come, but it definitely does its job in eliciting excitement for the series' upcoming debut. Read Full Review

If you are a Power Rangers superfan that is on the fence about this title, buy this book. If you have nostalgic memories of this series and want to relive them, buy this book. If you're looking for something akin to IDW's TMNT that takes the franchise in bold new directions while skirting the familiar, you probably want to wait for a few more issues to come out to avoid disappointment. I would've said the same thing about IDW's TMNT early in the run, though, so take it with a grain of salt. I know I am. I feel like it could score higher for a diehard fan, but I'm trying to step back and give my honest opinion of the writing not colored by my love for the franchise and also to let new reader know what to expect. With fantastic art and acceptable writing, I can confidently recommend this book to anyone interested. Read Full Review
However for me the random starting point is a big question mark and while the writing isn't bad, it seems to hearken back to the cheesy tone of the show " which I suppose for some is what they will want, I won't bother really reading it if it does that though, because I already have that in the old show and could just go rewatch it if I wanted that. I would hope that they could keep the youthful positivity and lighter tone and such and not go all dark, but it would have been nice to have more real sounding dialogues and conversations and such. With the cartoony bonus of "The Ongoing Adventures of Bulk & Skull" as well as the additional "What Time Is It?!" battle with Goldar, this is heavy duty fan service, but will hopefully act as an exciting gateway for newcomers, once issue one lands in March. Read Full Review
This is a book that really hits home for me. I have a lot of history with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and I didn’t even realize for YEARS after watching the show that it was an adaptation of a Japanese show where the American version just chopped out all the kaiju and giant robot fights and spliced in their own, ridiculous, version of Saved By The Bell- except the Bayside High kids fight super villains instead of boredom and west coast privilege. This is a really nice way to jump into Power Rangers, because it gives a pretty soft reboot to the story- picking up after (assuming) the FIVE PART EVENT in the first season of Power Rangers where Tommy, the Green Ranger, has his evil spell broken and is no longer the pawn of Rita Repulsa amore
It's real bittersweet to see Trini in the comic, given that the actress died in a car accident many years ago.
Also, was not really interested in the last two short-stories, I could do without them.
You're a loose cannon Tommy, you need to fall in line!
