My opinion of Bendis's ability to tell a story is not in doubt. But I do feel that this story needed more time to reach its conclusion.

As a fan of SOA, I love seeing Kurt Sutter utilizing his talents in a new medium. One downside to working on television are limitations of budget and subject matter and BOOM! Studios is letting Sutter go full throttle on the story.

I enjoyed the book as a companion piece to The Dark Knight Returns. It hits most of the marks in the story and dialogue and the artwork by John Romita Jr. aids the story beautifully.

Artwork was fantastic, particularly the use of the speed force when either Wally West or Barry Allen were on the move. And the use of color in the issue was in top form as well.

The concept is excellent and for the most part the story works as it should. There were some beautifully written moments in this issue which connects you to the characters. And this is absolutely aided by the artistic talents of Marquez and Ponsor.

To be fair, I know stories are written months before they wind up going to print. And I do feel that Marvel isn't going to let this character's legacy get butchered to death for a story line. But the pessimist in me is well convinced I'm not gonna enjoy the story's turnout. I hate to think that it's right.

The epilogue of the first issue was also handled well. And there is a brief teaser at the greater foe to come. And I'm hoping the story stays the course, because so far I'm enjoying everything so far.

While lacking in action, the issue does offer clear ethical debates within the story that makes it more than a star-studded melee.

An intriguing set up for the Spring's major event in the Marvel Universe.

Excellent pacing and fight sequence, but lacking somewhat in developing much of the cast.
