Stephen Bretall's Comic Reviews

The stories are short (as they need to fit in six of them) and pretty breezy light-hearted reads, with little story content, but lots of fun, goofy stuff. The art is varies, but its all excellent, and definitely the highlight of the book in the face of the shortness of the stories. Overall, if youre an adventure time fan or someone just looking for a book thatll be a fun, light read this is an excellent choice, as well as someone who does intend to share the book with or give it to someone younger.

The one thing I thought this comic suffered from was that its focus on action made it so that over the course of a single issue not a whole lot happened in terms of plot. Combined with the fact that each issue is a dollar (which admittedly is way less than a print comic, but it's not the free of most webcomics either) and I felt like it could have done with a little better pacing. However, this isn't a huge issue, as the events the comic does portray are quite interesting and well put together. I would say it's worth the money, but those who refuse to spend money on comics aren't completely missing out (unless they enjoy lighthearted adventure romps in which case they definitely are).

This is not to say that the story is bad, I look forward to seeing where Dale goes with the story in subsequent issues. That's where he'll have the chance to distinguish himself. From this opening things could really go anywhere, and I'm definitely interested in reading more to find out.
