Batman / Superman (2013) #1
Jun 28, 2013 |
When last Superman and Batman first met, it was 1986 and John Byrne had created a classic story. This time around, Greg Pak has crafted a very interesting take on the New 52 first meeting, anchored by the beautiful and extremely stylistic art of Jae Lee. Here is hoping Pak can keep up the great work and continue to show why these two characters have such a fascinating and exciting relationship. |

Guardians of the Galaxy (2013) #4
Jun 30, 2013 |
So far, The Guardians of the Galaxy has been one of the most entertaining books to read from the Marvel Now launch. This series really hits home how family doesn't have to just be the ones you share blood with. All of these team members have been rejected by their respective societies in some way or other, but they have each other to lean on and protect from whatever is out there. With famous author Neil Gaiman co-writing the next issue with Bendis, the road ahead is looking bright for the Guardians of the Galaxy. |

Supergirl (2011) #21
Jun 21, 2013 |
An introduction of a major DC Universe character at the end of this story is certainly a shocker, and seeing why this character has taken an interest in Kara Zor-El is going to make the next issue an important one. Overall, Supergirl #21 is a solid issue that showcases Supergirl as a heroic woman who is trying her best to do good things even though the odds and universe it seems are always against her. |

Superior Spider-Man (2013) #12
Jun 20, 2013 |
The only real problems with the issue are minor affairs. A close up shot of a Spidey bot during a powerful conversation between Jameson and Spider-Man comes out of nowhere and seems somewhat distracting in that moment. Also, a part involving the Lizard is most likely purely done as next issue setup and can take away from the action going on. However, this is a powerful issue for both J. Jonah Jameson in his question for revenge and Ock/Spidey as he makes a decision that will certainly make the wait for Superior Spider-Man # 13 a long one. This series continues to make readers reevaluate just what the Spider-Man name should represent when it comes to being a truly "superior" hero. |

Superior Spider-Man (2013) #15
Aug 8, 2013 |
In Superior Spider-Man #15, Dan Slott deals with Hobgoblin's troubles while also starting to chip away at Otto's Peter Parker lifestyle. Humberto Ramos unique style makes for a pretty book that, when combined with Inker Olazaba and Colorist Delgado, is a great sight to behold. |

The Walking Dead #112
Jul 15, 2013 |
The Walking Dead #112 continues the excellent current run for the series, and Robert Kirkman does not appear to be slowing down as All Out War starts up in October. With Rick and his group in a precarious situation at 112's end, the wait until next month's issue will certainly be a long one. |

Trinity of Sin: Pandora #1
Jul 5, 2013 |
Trinity of Sin: Pandora #1 is not a perfect comic, but it actually does feature a sympathetic female character that has accidentally done wrong and is determined to make everything right again. Writer Ray Fawkes must be given credit for taking this figure and tying her into DC events without making it feel like an unnecessary move just for monetary gains. With this first issue complete, what the future holds for Pandora will certainly be an interesting journey to follow. |

Young Avengers #8 continues the crazy adventures of Loki and company as Kieron Gillen creates more witty wordplay and crazy situations. Jamie McKelvie and Mike Norton pencil a beautiful issue that has it all, be it funny character expressions, cool dimensional bad guys, or even new types of delicious food. |
