40 years ago the first American vampire became the unlikely savior to the children of Boggy Depot and forged an unlikely agreement with the town. They leave him and his family alone, and he'll save any children from whatever lives in the swamp.

Blood & Dust takes an epic leap forward with this issue and works to redefine how vampires are seen in comics since 30 Days of Night. This is not a Dracula or Twilight-esque bloodsucker. Darkness seems to carry throughout the issue in both the art and the story. The team manages to show some of Judd's life in a flashback sequence which fills some things in. The art manages to blend past and present in superb fashion. There's little difference between them as both times lead to the swamp. Read Full Review
