  I'm not even trying to dunk on Penders but the stories he has written these past two issues are really not exciting, "cool" or funny in the way Sonic has been in the first 10 issues. Thankfully there are some other writers doing smaller stories in these books and those help keep that typical Sonic flair to it. Just hardly the main arc.

  I'm yet to get into Sonic comics. Is there one you could recommend?

  The rebooted series that started in 2018 has actually been pretty great. It takes place right after the Sonic Forces game so it's a bit jarring when it comes to events they talk about before the comics if you haven't read them but honestly the comics shine on their own. The art is pretty great. These original ones though can be a bit rough. Fun to just read through but the best series in terms of characterization and consistency is 2018. Ian Flynn is a really solid writer and loves the universe.
