Besides Luzhin, the story is great. The art is pretty damn good too. I still need to get fully solid on this creative side of things but very damn good. Read Full Review

At the end of the issue I felt I had received a solid chunk of story, I was introduced to the key players, and I had all the information I needed to know to enjoy the story withing the pages of this comic. This is something I often do not receive in a $3.99 1st issue from other publishers, I'm VERY please that Aspen gave me a story like this for a $1 entry fee. They were successful, I will be back for #2, and that is (or should be) the mission of every #1 issue of a comic series. Read Full Review

Although the story in "Michael Turner's Fathom" #1 struggles against itself at one point as the story experiences a severe information dump seven pages in, the action resumes quickly thereafter and the comic book is able to get back on track. This issue is a nice addition to Aspen's "10 for 10" promotion, but more importantly, a solid start for a series that is quite welcoming to new readers. Yes, there are bits and pieces reflective of previous volumes of "Fathom," but those are nicely handled by the creative team and blended into the story. As the trademark character for this publisher, it is only appropriate that Fathom be given a strong start. "Fathom" fans should keep an eye on this book, eager to see if Mastromauro, Wohl, Konat, Sotelo and Reed can continue to improve and mesh together for a strong new direction. Read Full Review
. . $1, 21pgs + 2pg backup. Moderate ADs. B grade cover. . . This first issue of a new Fathom series moves along nicely and exposes us to the characters and immediate situation. The artwork is decent, and frames are full, but rough at times. The color work is bright and vibrant. The storyline is interesting and very current. Fans of the series should be intrigued, but im not sure ill be reading at $4 an issue. But for a dollar, this issue is a must Try!
