This is the perfect one shot. An excellent entry point for readers who haven't been reading the main comic series, it has all the hallmarks of the TV series, at points hilarious, then dark, then moving. It would be great to see Mirka Andolfo doing more work in the Buffyverse, with her grasp of the characters it would be a sure fire hit. This will appeal to all Buffy fans. Read Full Review

Fans of both classic and more recent stories will be able to get into it. The what-if-alternate universe nature of the story provides some absolutely creepy Giles. Plus it will pull on your heart-strings and give you a nostalgia-rush. You couldn't ask for more in a Buffy comic. Read Full Review

If they'd had different artists, or a perhaps a more versatile single artist, craft each, it would have enhanced each character's perspective in a way that fully embraces comics as a visual medium. Perhaps Xander's story would become a full-on superhero tale, and Willow's something more retro horror. Instead, the issue feels like a shadow of what it could have been. Read Full Review

It's all a bit too easy and changes the tone of the writing based on each character doesn't work, especially giving Xander two stories drags the issue down. Buy this if you're a Buffy fan and need everything to keep your collection or you like the variant covers otherwise save $8 and buy two or three better comics from Boom! Read Full Review

While the main series is really starting to waver, in my opinion, this one-shot is a whole lot of fun. I feel like Mirka Andolfo understands these characters. I can't stress how much fun this issue is. If you fell out on the Boom reboot, at least give this a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I read this back-to-back with the newest issue of the main series, and the difference in writing and tone was... palpable.
