Step into the Bestiary for all-new tales of the LeMarchand Device and its guardians! This first issue contains the start of a six-part serial written by Mark Miller (CLIVE BARKER'S NEXT TESTAMENT) and Ben Meares (HELLRAISER ANNUAL 2013), and drawn by Carlos Magno (DEATHMATCH), where a group of mercenaries are hired to steal Pinhead's pins. Also, superstar author Victor LaValle teams with artist Colin Lorimer (CURSE) to tell a story set on the outskirts of New York City, as a close-knit community is torn apart by the presence of the puzzle box.
The idea of 'anchoring' an anthology series around an ongoing story worked well for Warren Publishing (EERIE), and it has great potential here. Clive Barker's HELLRAISER is a classic series, and the Mythos he created around it is a sandbox that only the truly gifted should play in. BOOM has chosen it's writers and artists well. This will be a great series for fans of Barker/Hellraiser in particular, but also for any splatterpunks/gorehounds out there as well. Barker's brand of horror, ably continued by these writers and artists is pure intensity. It is definitely not for kids or the easily offended, but for true fans, this is some AWESOME STUFF. This is really a great horror anthology comic. Read Full Review

This book is a great read and I enjoyed it, it's a nice collection of Hellraiser stories. I kind of feel that the last story would make a good mini series instead of added to a collection of short stories. I liked the last story and I can't wait to see what happens next to Pinhead, I can't wait to see if the gang does something we've all wanted to do to him. It is a good collection of short stories and I can't wait to see what other stories come out of this anthology. Read Full Review
If you're a fan of Hellraiser don't ignore this series just because it's an anthology, there's quite a bit to enjoy. The Hellraiser universe has a lot of characters, settings and concepts to explore so to see them being examined in an anthology title similar to those from the E.C. or Warren days is exciting. Hellraiser has been in good hands since BOOM! started publishing it, and they're proving that "they have such sights to show us". Read Full Review

After the previous Hellraiser series that Boom put out, this debut feels a little disappointing. While Barker wasn't writing the previous series, he was guiding the direction, and his influence is sorely missed here. Read Full Review
