The story is a little bumpy for new readers, but I'm sure that Smith will fill in the gaps in the remaining eleven issues. The visuals are incredible and wonderfully create this fantasy world. I said this before an I will say it again the art is terrific ( this has been a great week for art) In particular there is some very lovely paneling, but the story seems to be giving me too much info on the things I don't want to know and too much on the parts I do. Read Full Review

Beneath the Dark Crystal #1 is a slow burn of a comic. It establishes its character and conflict fairly well, but there isnt a lot of humor, action, or genuine emotional interaction to the keep the book interesting. If youre a fan of Dark Crystal, this will probably work for you. Otherwise, this doesnt seem like the best way to get into the franchise. Read Full Review
