Berserk is amazing, this is nothing shocking. This however isn't really the best intro to such a revered series. It's definitely the most rough part of Miura's work. It's still breathtaking. His sense of scale and weight in his art is spectacular. It just hasn't aged the best and thrusts you into a world with a lot of unexplained questions. He builds the world around these questions but it's a slow start. This simply serves to establish who Guts is, the dreary and dark world he lives in and what kind of person we will see him as for the time being. One fitting the horrific world he inhabits.

I don't know, I thought it would be cooler... I saw ratings like 9.8 on manga sites, so technically it's one of the best mangas of all time. And yeah, the art is great, even though it's too messy sometimes and... well, manga. But the story is kinda lame for now. A cool "tagged" guy walks here and there and cuts monsters. He's sooooo cool and also such an asshole. But of course there's always a sob story why he's like that and it's his way to protect his mental health, blah, blah. I don't know, for now it doesn't seem like such a great of a character and this little elf is pretty annoying. But at least I've read it fast and wasn't really bored at any point, so let's see how better it'll be further.
