Field agent Ashley Strode, last seen in B.P.R.D.: War on Frogs, is deployed to a Mexican village after a demon commands her to release one of its brethren, or lose the soul of a small child.
Another excellent edition to the body of work that forms the B.P.R.D. Read Full Review
Exorcism is another excellent addition to the ever-expanding Mignola-verse. It is a great character piece, looking at one agent trying to deal with the supernatural world that threatens our own and how she reconciles the two. I'm really excited to see what comes next. And I clearly have some reading to catch up on. Read Full Review
B.P.R.D.: Exorcism was the proper baby steps to get back in this great title. While it's only a two-parter and I'm not entirely clear on where the rest of the agents mentioned are, this particular issue is enjoyable and a great place to start if you're looking to give the BPRD titles a try-out. Agent Ashley Strode is a character I very much look forward to getting to know and B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Exorcism #1 is a great place for her to start. She also makes for an excellent PoV character as one of the few normals that hasn't been working with the B.P.R.D. for ages, which is where the book really succeeds. If you’re one of these people that absolutely need to know everything that’s happening with the “Hell on Earth” storyline then you’ll probably be lost in this issue some. Personally though, I think that as a standalone story it’s a great read that doesn’t require a lot of knowledge other than: Hellboy’s dead, Hell’s coming to the surface, the B.P.R.D. is trying to stop it. You can get wrapped up in stories for days, but those three facts are all you need to know for this issue. If you’re looking for a two part story that deals with demons then check it out, it’s one of the best B.P.R.D. stories this year by far. Read Full Review
