Project Black Sky has been a pretty bold initiative by Dark Horse. I don't know how well they have succeeded in all if their undertakings. But with their flagship offering in this line, Captain Midnight, they have nailed it. He might not be getting the same readership as the heavies from the Big Two. But he can definitely hold his own. This was a solid issue that takes to showing how much Captain Midnight cares for his friends, Chuck in particular. While I did say that Rick's commentary was an interesting approach, getting through to the end I much rather would have preferred not to have to read it when I was more drawn towards the action. With that said this was the most intense issue I have read up to this point and I love how well it was handled to the very end, the dialogue from Captain Midnight especially as he came to terms with everything he had ignored. So with everything covered, Captain Midnight #9 is a brutal, take-no-prisoners read thats one of the best Dark Horse titles on stands right now. If youre a fan of superhero comics but want to read something different from DC and Marvel and dont have to worry about constant relaunches, creative team changes and new status quos – then Captain Midnight is your best bet with #9 being another stellar addition to the Project Black Sky Universe.
