The ruler of Tevinter has cornered Marius and Tessa into eliminating four high-profile mages within the capital. Yet the closer they come to completing their task, the closer they themselves are drawn toward death!
All and all, Dragon Age: Magekiller #2 continues to be a treat for Bioware fans and for those looking for a grounded fantasy tale. Read Full Review
It is a great thing to see consistency in this comic and it is even greater thing to see that the story is now starting to pick up pieces from the games. I can tell that the creative team was, at the very minimum, exposed to the Dragon Age series. They continue to do a good job invoking the emotions felt when players experienced the world and I hope they continue to do so. Also, the sky opening. Read Full Review
If this issue is about the caper, issue three promises to address an overwhelming crisis. It should be interesting to see how a couple of assassins handle a much larger threat to the land of Thedas. Read Full Review
I am certainly still enjoying the story too, but being written by scribe extraordinaire: Greg Rucka, I shouldn't be the least bit surprised. I'm very curious to see where this all leads and wondering if there is a big twist waiting in the wings, such as Marius or Tessa are mages themselves. Guess I will have to wait another month and see. So great issue and "If you're looking for a comic to tickle your fantasy bone, this is it." I'm unplugging for now and keep those consoles warm till next time folks! Read Full Review
Issue two of Dragon Age Magekiller is a resounding success. I did hope that the groundwork that held back issue one a little would be worth the wait, and I'm glad to see that true. The story will be an interesting one for those oblivious to the DA mythos, but it's to those of us that have played the games it will be the most appealing. It's great to get a story that is so close to the events of the game, yet separate enough that it doesn't contradict anything in the game itself. I've a real hankering for the next issue now, especially on the back of this episodes conclusion – I wasn't expecting that to happen so soon! Read Full Review
Gripes about character aside, Magekiller is still a great looking comic, especially the aforementioned parts set in Tevinter. Character designs feel more solid this time around, though fight scenes still feel a bit tacked on and lack depth or punch, which seems to be a running theme in the games too. I must still point out the great cover images done by Sachin Teng which are deserving of their own collecting. A final word points out that this is definitely becoming more and more a fan comic and I couldnt imagine a person who knew nothing about Dragon Age getting much out of this. A good comic for its target audience. Read Full Review
"All in all, a decent outing for number two, but I had hoped the flow of details about the main character's relationships would have been turned up past a slow drip. Still, we're left in an interesting place and I find myself still invested in their story and wanting to see what happens next. Read Full Review
Dragon Age: Magekiller #2 moves our story forward at a rather rushed pace, as despite there being some solid developments, there's a lot of plot that gets skipped over. It does however give something that fans of the franchise should enjoy, even if it doesn't live up to its potential. Read Full Review
The characters that have been established in Dragon Age: Magekiller are certainly compelling. Even though this issue feels a bit underwhelming in plot, there are still a number of interesting aspects to it as it contributes to the ongoing plot. With quality art as well, the series continues to be a worthwhile read. Read Full Review
