Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez Nov 13, 2025

HELLBOY AND THE B.P.R.D.: THE GHOST SHIPS OF LABRADOR #1 asks a lot: attention, patience, and a taste for spectral brawls where plot and art jostle for dominance. The result? A comic that pushes novelty where it matters. Agatha Blunt is the real draw, but the issue can't fully escape its own atmospheric fog. If your comic budget is tight, weigh Agatha's star turn and brisk ghost chaos against a premise that's promising, if not always crystal-clear about where it's headed. Read Full Review

    Plot
It's 1990 in Red Bay Labrador, a town whose bay has been visited by hundreds of ships for centuries, many of which have been wrecked. This place is notable for Whale Bay.

Mysteriously, the town's population is haunted by an army of sailors' ghosts from all those wrecked ships, who are driving everyone away because they want to claim this place as their home, something that, according to Hellboy's experience, never happens.

The B.P.R.D. sends Agatha Blunt to investigate. Her specialty is exorcisms. She arrives at the town, which is shrouded in a thick fog, accompanied by her pet dog, Elba. Agatha uses a wheelchair and disappears in seconds as she enters the fog.
