While this is a comparatively slow issue for Star Wars, the character moments function well, we get to see IG-88, and it introduces someone who I hope will be a new running character and who will help give more backstory with Leia. Much like Boom Studio's terrific Darkwing Duck series, another Disney property doing well is forced to end to be gobbled up by Marvel. No doubt Marvel will be more interested in putting out a Star Wars comic, but will they find a creative team as invested in these characters? I have my doubts. Worth a look. Read Full Review

The internal thoughts and struggles that Seren expresses about her time deep undercover act as an effective hook into the story. The issue didn't feel like it moved things forward very much from where it started, but it does set the foundation for a good finish to Dark Horse's excellent run with this franchise. One final note about Star Wars #19 is that I quite enjoy the art style provided by Carlos D'Anda. All of the characters have a very unique appearance while still slightly resembling the actors from Star Wars. D'Anda's work is just the thing to set the issue apart from other versions of Star Wars. This series continues to be tremendous fun, and "Star Wars" #19 opens up the universe once again, adding some details to Princess Leia's childhood. It's not hard to imagine Wood crafting this script around an assortment of action figures and toys in his backyard using IG-88 instead of the same old Stormtroopers and gray clad Imperial officers. It is an interesting decision to take four of the classic and beloved characters of Star Wars lore and throw them together on a mission while also introducing two new characters. Perhaps this adventure can get Wood to wring some more vitality out of Han, who has been rather dull in the most recent arcs of this series. It would also be good to see Luke start to develop the confidence that he shows in Episode V. What this issue reveals about Seren Song is not exceptionally fascinating but a deep cover operative in the Empire is a promising background, so she may start to deliver some interesting elements in Star Wars #20. So whilst this book isnt the greatest issue of Star Wars ever, it reminds us what were going to miss when this title ends with a solid installment that mostly entertains. Most people who have stuck with this run are probably going to pick up these last two anyway for a complete collection regardless of the review, but for those that remain undeceive Star Wars #19 is worth your time. As this is a new arc within the series, si don't be afraid to dip in if you haven't followed the series. Issue 19 is a good read with a pacey story and the right mix of new ideas and nostalgia, emotional struggles and humour. I recommend it. Read Full Review
