In Eric Powell’s biggest story since 2008, what’s left of the Zombie Priest’s race of witches comes after the Goon, forcing him to face his nightmares or lose his town!
As the rogue's gallery of the comic unite to battle the hero, the readers get brilliant storytelling that elevate the villain conglomerate motif above the clich that it has become. I don't know how Paulsey's reanimated corpse will play into the story, but that mystery drives me to find out. Based on past issues, I know the writer has a clever plan involved that will entice me, stupefy me, and entertain me. And elements like that make this book a consistent masterpiece of the medium. This book isnt at all what I expected. It makes me sad that I waited so long to spend some time with The Goon. I was entertained, I felt emotion and I want more. While established Goon fans may already have a feel for whats going on, new readers shouldnt feel shy about picking this book up. This is my first interaction with The Goon and I didn't feel like I was outside the circle at all. Instead, Im left anxious to see how this story unfolds and cant wait to see more interesting personalities come off of the pages. 9.5 out of 10 Read Full Review
The Goon is back and any Goon or Eric Powell fan needs The Goon: Occasion of Revenge. With an emotional start and a humour/action packed climax it delivers the kind of Goon goodness that we've been missing and easily gets a recommendation. Read Full Review
The Goon: Occasion of Revenge #1 is a solid start to the series with its mesmerizing setting in the form of a cursed town, engrossing story, and gorgeous artwork that is perfectly suited for it and its array of characters. And the way the defense of the town took was an extremely enjoyable series of events, and revealed even more about the characters' natures and progression. The only problem I had with this issue was the way the main characters weren't as developed early on as James and Sandy, so in the case of the Goon his connection to the town isn't entirely clear and there was no mention of what led him there. However, I'm pretty excited to get my hands on the next issue and see what unfolds. Read Full Review
There aren't many characters like The Goon in comics and there aren't many creators as unique and enjoyable as Eric Powell. It's a thrill to have both of them back, especially in a comic as great as this one. Read Full Review
The bad guys look nice and menacing. Each looks equally unique and creepy with their sinister pets hanging off of them so I hope some of them last longer than one confrontation withThe Goon. In any case, this looks to be another grand shindig for Freddy, Mudd, The Zombie Priest and everyone else to bash some monstrosities. Its also new-reader friendly so you can hop right into this story and not worry about catching up until you good and ready. Enjoy some Goon and tell your friends. Read Full Review
For readers who have never picked up a book drawn by Eric Powell, the art alone is a reason to check this story out. He is immensely talented and there is no shortage of talent on display in this issue. Powell is a great story teller and his visual technique is as strong as his writing. For that, it is great to have The Goon back and this arc looks to be really fun. Read Full Review
