The second issue in a new arc from the writer of the Tomb Raider 2013 video game—Rhianna Pratchett!
Lara and her friends must leave London in order to save a friend’s life from a mysterious organization! However, there is danger lurking in the shadows that threatens to destroy them all!
Tomb Raider's current arc is still fairly fluid in what's going on as we know only a bit about this particular Snake group. The main aspect we have is that they're going to rescue Grim no matter what so there's an end goal in mind, but the motivation beyond that is thin. Sam is there to be with Lara this time around and Kaz feels like she owes a thousand adventures for what Lara has done. It moves well enough here overall outside of a couple of choppy moments and it sets the team to be even more isolated in their adventure, which is what they want for the most part. At least until their guide shows up to take them to where they think the Snake cult might be. The arc has its work cut out for it in being tense and engaging, but it should hit once more threats are realized. Read Full Review
Tomb Raider #14 is just a decent issue that suffers from a bad sense ofdj vu as it pertains to the characters and events and the lack of build up of the antagonistic organization so it remains faceless. The fact that every leg of the trip was documented instead of providing a more engrossing context to the events taking place, and those involved, it felt like filler again. Maybe the tone of the series focusing on the adventures of Lara and her friends in this manner throws me off or it's just my sentiments about the artwork but I hope next issue can pull me into its world, and the current story arc, a little more than this one.
